Liewen a Léieren

Why Liewen a Léieren?

Luxembourg benefits from a wide range of organizations, professionals, associations and institutions working every day to support children and families.

Yet, the realities experienced on the ground often remain fragmented across different fields: education, mental health, inclusion, disability, access to rights, integration, social support and civic participation.
Each stakeholder sees only part of the picture. Families, however, experience the entire journey.

When lived experiences remain scattered, it becomes more difficult to identify emerging needs, recurring obstacles and opportunities for improvement that could strengthen existing support systems.
Liewen a Léieren was born from this observation.

Our conviction is simple: a better understanding of the realities experienced by children and families is an essential condition for developing sustainable solutions adapted to society's needs.

Our Story

Liewen a Léieren originated from a reflection on children's well-being and the realities experienced by families within the Luxembourgish education system. To encourage dialogue and the sharing of experiences, a citizen-led community was created. Within a few months, it brought together more than 1,400 members from diverse backgrounds, including parents, teachers, professionals, citizens, associations and international families.
As testimonies accumulated, one conclusion became increasingly clear: the challenges faced by families often extend far beyond the school environment.

Many of the situations shared involved mental health, inclusion, neurodiversity, access to rights, administrative support, integration and coordination between different services and stakeholders.
This reality gradually led the project to evolve into a broader initiative focused on dialogue, citizen observation and a deeper understanding of the realities experienced by families.

Today, Liewen a Léieren is fully integrated within a non-profit organization and continues to develop within a structured, independent and collaborative framework.

Our Observation

Families today have access to a wide range of services, information and support mechanisms.

However, they frequently face challenges such as identifying the appropriate contact persons, understanding complex pathways, accessing clear information, navigating between different systems and administrations, making their experiences heard and finding the resources best suited to their needs.

At the same time, decision-makers, researchers, associations and institutions rarely have access to a comprehensive overview of the realities experienced by citizens.

This situation is not the result of a lack of commitment from existing stakeholders.

Rather, it reflects the growing complexity of modern life journeys and the need to strengthen connections between different sectors and areas of intervention.

Our Vision

We believe that a more inclusive society begins with a better understanding of human realities.

Our ambition is to contribute to the creation of a space capable of connecting the lived experiences of families, the knowledge of professionals, the expertise of organizations and the reflections of decision-makers.

Our objective is not to replace existing stakeholders, but to strengthen the connections between them.

We seek to promote a culture based on listening, cooperation, prevention and a deeper understanding of the real needs of the population.

An invitation to

Build Together

The challenges faced by children and families concern society as a whole.
No single organization holds all the answers.

We are convinced that the most sustainable solutions emerge when citizens, professionals, associations, municipalities, researchers and institutions work together around a shared understanding of realities on the ground.

It is in this spirit that Liewen a Léieren seeks to develop partnerships, foster synergies and contribute to strengthening the well-being of children and families in Luxembourg.

Listen. Understand. Connect. Because a society that understands its children better builds a better future.
